To say I’ve been stressed is an understatement.
Over the past few months, stress has caused me physical pain. Upper and lower back pain, headaches, weight gain, etc. I’ve been very open about this on my social media pages and my blog. So when Janette from Ava to Zoe invited me to come along with her, Kat from The Pampered Baby, and Kristy from Kristy Powers Potrait on a Yoga Retreat at Nectar Yoga BnB. I was game!
I was a bit hesitant to spend two nights away from my boys and I was also feeling a bit anxious because I wasn’t too sure if the ladies would like the girl behind ” Raising Jay & Abel”. Besides seeing each other at networking events, speaking to each other over Facebook Messenger, I’ve never spent more then a couple hours at time with each of them. Would they like me? Would I fit in ? Will they find my personality annoying ? All my concerns were put to rest the minute Janette rolled up in front of my house.
We quickly figured out that we were all itching for some ME time. The constant hustle and bustle of our every day stresses brought us together at the right moment, and for that, I will always be thankful.
Nestled fifteen minutes away from Vancouver, BC, is a town that is simple, slow moving, and relaxed. This peaceful town is called Bowen Island and that is where our adventure took place. As much as I love the city life, I also love to disconnect so when I found out that Bowen Island was a short ferry ride away, I was completely surprised !
Andrea, the owner of Nectar Yoga BnB explained that her and her spouse searched for 2 years before selecting Bowen Island as their home. They searched for a space that was simple, sustainable, conscious and connected. A place that provided healing for tourist or even locals ! Nectar Yoga BnB was a dream that Andrea was able to manifest, and I’ve learnt that manifesting my own dreams is in my control.
Thank you Andrea, for showing me this.
We don’t mean to get lost in the #momlife, it just happens.
If you’re anything like me, then everyday seems like a fight against time. Trying to check off everything on your “to-do” list seems impossible. Eventually, you feel burnt out and you want to scream ! When you get to the burnt out phase, you start to yern for a great nights sleep, home cooked meals and stillness.
Each morning, we woke up bright and early to meditate and improve on our Yoga skills. Andrea, asked us what we wanted from each session and with our responses she led the way. We enjoyed each of our sessions in Andrea’s Yoga Dome that she built along with a few friends. The placement of the dome allowed us to overlook her property and let us soak in the nature that was around us. In was in those moments that I realized how blessed I was to be healthy and living.
I wasn’t too sure what to expect when Janette invited me on this Yoga Retreat. I went in with an open mind and an open heart.
As time went on, I noticed that the four of us connected on a much deeper level then just being “moms” or “bloggers”. We all brought something to the retreat that we wished to heal from. With the help of a few wine bottles, we found ourselves letting go of the facade and revealing the pain to one another. We spent two nights of deep conversation, laughs, hugs, and a lot of country. 😉
If you’re looking for a place to destress, re-energize and disconnect, than Nectar Yoga BnB is the place for you!
